Tomato Upma
Set 1
Oil - 2 tsp
Rava / Sooji - 1 cup
Ground nuts - 2 tbsp roasted
Cashews - 2 tbsp
Set 2
Oil - 2tbsp
Chana dal - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Onion - 1 medium chopped
Green chili - 3 (long slit)
Ginger - 1 tsp chopped
Curry leaves - 5 chopped
Tomato - 3 small chopped
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
Water - 3 cups
Ghee - 1 tsp
Chana dal - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Onion - 1 medium chopped
Green chili - 3 (long slit)
Ginger - 1 tsp chopped
Curry leaves - 5 chopped
Tomato - 3 small chopped
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
Water - 3 cups
Ghee - 1 tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tbsp (optional)
Method :
1. From Set 1, heat oil in a pan, add ground nuts and cashews and roast them in oil till light brown.
2. Now mix rava/sooji and roast till light brown and take them aside on plate.
3. Now in same pan add oil from set 2.
4. Now add chana dal, urad dal, mustard seeds and fry till dal are light brown
5. Now add onion, green chili, ginger, curry leaves and mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes
6. Now add tomato and cook till they are soft.
7. Now add turmeric and salt and mix well
8. Now add water and check the salt at this time and let it boil.
9. Now add rava/sooji mixture slowly and mix well.
10. Now add ghee and close the lid and cook on slow flame for 5 mins
11. Serve hot.
